Looking Back On a Life You Hate

March 1, 2020

< back to blog

How would you feel at 80 years old, sitting in your rocking chair, looking back on a mediocre life that you're not happy about? That wouldn't be a very great feeling, right? Let's talk about the importance of living your life to the fullest every single day.

Why is this important?

Nobody wants to look back on their life and feel as if they wasted it. I know I don't. I've talked about this before on my social media, but it's truly important to spend every day working towards what you want. Even if you do something small daily. If you spend every day doing things that make you happy temporarily or don't make you happy at all, you could be that 80-year-old. Who wants that? I want to look back on a life I'm proud of and know that I did the best I could. Everyone should have this mentality because what's life without happiness and a sense of accomplishment?

What should we do?

I encourage everyone to spend a day writing out what your ultimate life goals are. What do you want to experience? Where do you want to go? What do you want to accomplish? You might have goals in the back of your mind, but when you sit down and truly think about them and write them out, you'll discover things about yourself you weren't aware of. You might discover that what you thought you wanted isn't actually what you want. Maybe you'll discover that you want more in life than what you initially assumed.

Wasting time is easy, but don't!

I wasted the majority of my day today laying in bed on my phone, and I hate that. So I made sure I made the effort to get up and work on this blog post. I talked about the ultimate time wasters in a blog post recently. It's inevitable for us to have days where we don't get anything useful done - and that's completely okay. We're only human. We aren't always going to get the most valuable things accomplished on a daily basis. However, that's not to say that we shouldn't at least try. Have a designated day of the week that's your "lazy day" and make it a point to do one thing of value every other day of the week. Trust me. It'll make a huge difference.

If you catch yourself wasting time, turn everything around by doing what I did. I might've wasted a lot of time today on my phone, but at the end of the night, I'll still be able to say I did a blog post.

Be who you want to be

do what you want to do.

Life may be "short", but it's the longest thing we'll ever experience. So make the most of it! What do you want to change about yourself? Are you tired of being a certain weight? Make it a point to walk around your neighborhood daily, or hit the gym. Are you a compulsive liar? Journal the reasons why you think you lie and write the steps you're going to take to fix that. Do you constantly break promises to yourself and others? This week, keep all the promises you make to anyone including yourself, and at the end of the week, write how great it made you feel. Do you want to be in a specific profession? Create a gameplan of each step you're going to take to get there.

Guys, we have to stop talking so much about what we want to do. We have to stop complaining so much about what we don't have or what we don't like. What we need and have to do is start taking action towards what we want in life. I see so many people wasting their time talking, complaining, whining. I know, because this was me! However, I've started doing everything I talked about in this post. I want to live a life that I truly adore. Start taking action and making moves in your life. Time doesn't wait for anybody. Including you.

If you need an extra push, check out Lavendaire's youtube for advice and tips on working towards your dreams. The creator of Lavendaire, Aileen Xu, has helped me so much with achieving this mindset and taking action towards what I want in life.

The difference between someone that's living their dream life and someone that isn't is that one person took action and didn't give up. Be that person.
